I'll be moving over to my site for any future updates. Its mostly built but I'm still in the process of adding all my images to the database (lots of fun) you can visit it at 29toons.com ...the only problem I forsee with it is that the server its running on likes to stop displaying images now and then...wich sucks but they are usually back up in a couple minutes when it does happen.

Wow...today I had 5 things I needed to draw....and well.....I drew 5 things but only this pig was something I needed. A good friend is making some program thingy and needed a pig *shrug*.

I'm listening to a mix someone made of three song mashed all together...some Eminem, Daft Punk and Massive Attack...very neat.

Ya anyway my favorite things in the whole world are rats....and I just realized that I haven't ever cartooned one...(or have I?)...

I spent all friggin day trying to design myself a site so instead of having 9million posts I could have everything arranged and organized....and came up with nuttin.....when I do though I'll post it here. (I guess thats obvious though)
I did however manage to change my profile picture to something that looks less like a corpse and switched the layout of this blog a bit.

Funny how your choice of music can chancge your train of thought totally. I haven't had any ideas for cartoons to draw in a long time. But then again I've had Teardrop by Massive Attack, Don't Leave Home by Dido and Hayling by FC Kahuna on repeat for the last week. They're great songs but they kinda bleed all your sorrow to the surface...even if you thought you didn't have anything bottled up. So for today I have nothing....a lot of scribbles...but honnestly I'm sick of posting half draw half done half colored sketches. Why can't I just produce a finished product? Maybe my mind is wandering too much. I'll try again.

The point being? There isn't one...thats the point. I'm not religous by any means. But I envy those who are. They have a constant drive ...a constant reason....the rest of us sit around and ask stupid questions. I wish I had some kind of belief in something that gave hope....but I don't and I'd be kidding myself if I tried or pretended.
Its like Santa Claus...when I was a kid I wanted so bad to believe....because the kids that did were so much happier...but I just couldn't convince myself. Not to say I'm not happy...I'm the same as everyone else....I smile sometimes and others I don't. Anyway what the hell was I talking about in the first place? I think it was just a nicely arranged brain fart.
And...speaking of wasting time....I think I'll go old school and play some Mario Brothers...weeeeeeeeee =)

I need to apologize for the colors I use....I'm mostly color blind and I just noticed that for the last couple months my monitor has been screwed up =P now theres lines going through it and funky stuff goin on...so I guess I'll buy a new on...but until then I hope my coloring isn't causing any eye damage to viewers =) Ah well...black and white until then I suppose. Being as nobody looks at any of this...I get no feedback...so I have no idea if its been bad or ok. But then again I guess I wouldn't really know anyway.

If you haven't seen the movie ....make a point of it. Its in German though so if you aren't finished your Hooked on Phonics audio cassettes* yet you'll have to skip the subtitles and goto the dubbed version. And if you like that one...another two goodies by Tom Tykwer are Heaven (with Cate B. and that guy that always plays a handicapped kid in movies) and The Princess and the Warrior (with Franka P.). This one is for sure a cult classic though...I watched it by accident years ago. Didn't know what it was so I downlo.....rented it. Then of course bought it (I really did buy it!). Anyway you can watch it a million times and notice new things each time.
*audio cassettes are small rectangular objects that hold audio ...you play them in an audio cassette player.....relics of our past.

I'm finding a void when I sit down to sketch....a strange area to be in. I can sketch....but I really have no clue what I'm skething or why. Its very unproductive. I end up with a pack of irrelevant doodles....but nothing solid....no fun.

I've come to the conclusion that I will probably never do much of anything more then doodle until I meet someone along the same wave length as me. I need someone with ideas. I found my best friend a while back....forgot to mention that. Turns out I did leave her in my other pants....close one...almost went through the wash =/

Annnnnnnnyway I am all bitchy and jealous today. She just got the sweetest job in the world...its top secret until she starts Monday but it has to do with what she loves...and thats "radical" (do the kids say radical anymore?). And she's all gitty about it and its making me sick.
Not fair!!! I spend 12 hours a day in a factory feeling myself age.
But I'm happy as hell for her. And yet somehow I want to strangle her and steal her identity....hmmm.
Also not fair....she's an insanely talented artist and I barely ever get to see her work. I mean ARTIST, she paints pictures that could inspire a bazillion stories. I love them! And if she allows me (she's all bigtime now with her job so she might get pissy and hire someone to off me if I go round showing her stuff without asking), I'll show you someday when her website she's "working on" (indefinetly) gets done =)

I'm gonna go be angry and miserable and at the same time excited and happy for the little bitch now. =)!

Hats off to US media...I really can't think of any other country that can make such celebrities out of horrible people, events and things. You save 15 kids from a burning bus and get 10 seconds on the news with a "wow...nice job guy!". But if you're a cat 5 hurricane you get your own news team, a special logo, a nickname, some t-shirts, a theme song, more air time then the Peanuts Xmas special...etc. World news and crisis is not supposed to fall under the category "entertainment". I mean really, let's focus on something bad coming and prepare for it. Information is safety...but are all the special effects, cinematics, techno music, celebrity cameos (etc....) necessary to keep people informed?

"Wow...the storm just ripped that guy's house into shreds, killed half his family and destroyed his life earnings to date...lets play it in a loop in slow mo every 5 mins and then get Ashton Couture's view on it"

How about all this extra cash the news channels are making on this shit go back to the people getting it up the ass by mother nature? Because its pretty sad knowing that somewhere some bigwig fatcat is going "Yes! another cat5!" and then planning another Disney World trip for the kids.

Know your role bitch. You aren't previewing the trailer for a summer blockbuster. I don't know too many people that sit down to watch the news but change to CSI because the news just wasn't action packed and visually thrilling enough for them. Whats the excuse? Do we need to do this so people watch and give a shit? Thats sad.

"But we must keep the people informed"...fuck you. Then inform them...tell them whats happening, why its happening and what to do. Stop inducing epileptic fits with all your flashy title screens. If theres a hurricane about to smash the shit out of a city and kill anything in its path how about being focused more on the evacuation an safety procedures and less on creating countdown to doom hype. Your goal should be to get the message out and prevent more bad things...not compete to see how many watercooler conversations start with "That part when the car landed on the roof of that family's house was so cool!".

Does the media forget the power they have over any given situation? The media could get a city evacuated because some kid is running around with a runny nose if they wanted to. We know this but we choose to profit from it instead of using it to our advantage. Inducing insane and chaotic fear in the population is not informing them. If a bad moon is rising we can't be distracting everyone with surrealism.

If they want to know...inform them. If theres danger...help protect them.
It seemes simple enough.

Well the last couple days have been a bit messed up. My best friend dropped off the face of the earth I think...I haven't heard a word. I lost my friggin best friend! Thats way worse then loosing your keys. My birthday was yesterday and so was my mom's. I was busy hating my job the two days before that. Annnnnnd I been in one of those moods where I hate everything I sketch so I keep deleting and starting again, which leads to zero productivity.

I'm probably gonna be all scatter brained until I figured out where that best friend person went....I should check in the couch cushions...in the washing machine...in old pants pockets...they get into everything. Maybe I'll attach it right to my keychain.

I've been working on some concept art for an idea that will remain top secret for now =)
Other then that...I've been sitting here all day working on Rabbat and Rat so I can post their new selves up.

I tried Painter by Corel for the first time...REALLY neat. Before anytime I wanted to do anything digital I'd use Photoshop..and its not bad. But Painter is amazing...you can do an entire oil painting and it looks real...even the texture in the pain. And the brushes are random...not just a stamp of one pattern. Really cool stuff. Anyway thats me testing it out and trying to get used to my table again. And now for pizza and video games =D!

Well I been working all weekend so the only things I've done really is fill up the companie's log books with pictures of stupid doodles. I'm sure they appreciate that.

I've had Grim since the egg days (he's named after the yellow cartoon dog Grimmy in Mothergoose and Grimm). I don't even think he realizes he's a bird. I tried this whole caricature thing....ya that didn't go so well. I determined that I suck. I have a lot of practicing to do. For my first try I used this young lady here ---------->
I figured a sexy lady with too much makeup would be easy for my first try. Apparently not the case....view the train wreck below. I think I am having trouble identifying the major charicteristics that make her look like she does. I'll have to do some research on the theory behind capturing someone's face and then cartooning it....or maybe I should get a coffee...have a smoke and play some video games!! =)

My throne....i think. I'm not really sure why I put this together. I'm basically just scanning my harddrive for junk I had I could post so it looked like I was doing something. In reality I haven't done anything in quite a while. My goal here is to keep a history more or less of my progress as I return to the world of cartooning.
I have never been able to do caricatures...and so I'm going to start with learning that and posting my results. Then I'll probably go back to what I'm famous for...starting and never finishing projects and ideas. My ultimate goal would be to have some type of finished product resembling either an animated short(s) or a fluent comic strip. .....And so it begins.

Of course I never finished it...and I likely never will because the characters I made for it are already so old that I don't like them anymore. I wasn't overly happy with them to begin with.

Heres a compilation of things I found in the back of one of my sketchbooks. Its all old stuff from when I was younger and starting out. The green and purple headshots at the top there are my boys...my two very first solid characters. Daezz and Nitezz...I was around 10 when I came up with them and out of all the characters I've created these two guys have followed me all the way up. Constantly being reworked...someday I'll get it right. To the right of that image is an expressions test I did on Daezz (who original name was actually Rabbatt) and the one below them is a rework I did in grade 8(?). The girl image was when puberty hit and I decided that if I drew these wonderful creatures then I'd never have to get caught starring at the girls in class. And the last image is a little more recent (5-6 years ago). Its a group shot of some heroes I had ready for a story...that never happened. K...theres some history....am I educating or just procrastinating?
